Foursquare Disaster Relief is offering this training at River City Church in Spokane. This is a 16 hour class broken down over 2 days. This seminar will help to qualify church members and ordinary citizens to become first responders in local, regional, national or even global crisis situations. The cost for this kind of special training is typically upwards of $200.00; but through this two day event only, it is being offered at a discounted Early Bird price of only $75.00 from now through October 21 and at only $90.00 for general admission when enrolled from October 22 until the time of the event.

Attendees will walk away from the 16 hour class with confidence in their role in crisis response situations; including how to minister while on site in a disaster scenario, how to remain out of the way of officials such as fire departments while on site of all types of incidents, how to identify other agencies and how to operate in tandem within them, how to offer organization aid in the midst of chaos; including but not limited to supply distribution, crowd management and resource allotment. Completion of the official training qualifies trainees as certified First Responders according to FEMA guidelines, and providing them with the clearance level to be allowed on site at any disaster site where aid is being given.

Licensed Foursquare pastors who attend this first of many continued education courses, will walk away as a certified Disaster Relief Chaplain. Both days of initial training are required to qualify as an offical responder. Non-licensed Foursquare leaders and Foursquare church members will qualify as Disaster Relief Associates. The FDR program offers continuing education options to remain in current responder and chaplain statuses.

Registration will be at 8:00 AM on November 11. Classes will begin at 8:30 AM and conclude at 5:00 PM each day.

*Registrants will be asked to create a HUB account, if they do not already have one. This is so that the digital database can pool certified responders together and automatize who may be closest to respond to a local disaster in the foreseeable future. Please follow the ticket link to create an account.

Recently, The Heights has had an active presence in local disaster relief. As recently as last year, several of our staff and local pastors aided at fire sites near Hunters,WA in their chaplain roles. Arriving to serve, many had the chance to minister in a very nonofficial setting. A lot of FDR trained workers assisted with setting up temporary housing units, organizing food donations, even offered up seemingly small gestures such as walking burnt property with affected families. Something as simple as a listening ear does not fall on deaf hearts, and the spirit of the Lord moved through comradery and fellowship above all else. Meeting practical needs and offering spiritual support and guidance in times of crisis, is the sole purpose of the FDR ministry.
